Steel Material Handler

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable Material Handler to support daily warehouse and material-handling operations. This position is responsible for loading, unloading, pulling, receiving, and moving materials throughout the facility using forklifts, overhead cranes, and manual handling methods.

The ideal candidate has previous warehouse or industrial experience, is comfortable working around heavy materials and equipment, and can accurately read a tape measure and perform basic math. Forklift and overhead crane experience is strongly preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Load materials into customer vehicles and properly secure materials to prevent shifting during transit.
• Unload, color-code, and properly store materials received from outside vendors by railcar or truck.
• Record received materials accurately on warehouse receiver forms.
• Pull customer orders for loaders and accurately record tickets, line items, and weights on activity logs.
• Operate forklifts and/or overhead cranes to safely move and position materials throughout the facility.
• Complete the required first article process on all orders.
• Operate tractor-trailers on company property as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow established warehouse procedures.
• Adhere to all company Quality Policies and procedures.
• Complete required training on quality procedures specific to the assigned position.
• Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
• Prioritize daily tasks and effectively manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous warehouse, material handling, or industrial experience preferred.
• Previous forklift and overhead crane experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
• Good basic math skills, including working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Dependable, team-oriented, and willing to work in a physically demanding environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to sit, bend, reach, and perform other necessary motor functions required for the position.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Ability to work around large, heavy industrial materials and equipment.

Safety and quality are essential parts of this position. The Material Handler must follow all company safety procedures, complete required quality training, and consistently adhere to established Quality Policies and work instructions.
