Description

Windings, Inc. is a 100% employee-owned company, meaning every employee-owner shares in our success. As an ESOP since 1998, we contribute 10–12% of your annual pay toward your retirement—at no cost to you.

For over 60 years, we’ve built custom motors and components for some of the world’s toughest environments—from outer space to the battlefield, racetracks, and deep drilling sites.

What You’ll Do

We're looking for a Standard Motor Assembly team member who thrives in a hands-on, precision-driven environment and wants to make a real impact by building components that support critical missions. If you're energized by technical challenges and inspired by purpose-driven work, join our collaborative team and help us fulfill our mission: “Making our Customer’s Critical Mission Possible.”

As a Standard Motor Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for assembling and testing precision electromechanical components and motor systems. The role requires a strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to quality and safety standards, including FAA-certified practices.

The ideal candidate has experience in mechanical or electromechanical assembly, a positive attitude, and a strong willingness to learn. You should be motivated to produce quality work, open to taking on challenges, and able to communicate effectively. We are looking for team players who are flexible, collaborative, and enthusiastic about contributing to continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assemble magnets, stators, shafts, and other motor subcomponents using fixtures, bonding, and heat-shrink techniques.

  • Perform polarity checks, motor sub-assemblies, and final motor builds.
  • Conduct in-process inspection and salvage/recovery techniques to ensure product integrity.
  • Operate ovens, heat-shrink equipment, and measuring instruments to complete assemblies.
  • Install threaded inserts (Helicoil) and perform FAA-certified twist lock wiring as required.
  • Perform functional and physical testing on motors, including inductance, resistance, BEMF, detent, torque, shaft runout, and perpendicularity checks.
  • Assemble and test Hall boards, resolvers, and other ESD-sensitive components.
  • Maintain strict compliance with quality standards, safety guidelines, and documentation requirements.
