The Emerson Test & Measurement/National Instruments (NI) Transportation Business Unit (TBU) Customer Centric Solutions (CCS) Team is seeking to hire a Staff Systems Design Engineer (Electrical) to work on custom solution projects. The primary responsibilities of this position are to work with NI engineering teams, customers, sales personnel, partners, and contract manufacturers to define, design, document, deploy and sustain NI systems tailored to meet specific customer requirements for turnkey engineering solutions. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge in electrical and electronic design and configuration of systems, as well as familiarity with NI hardware and software products.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
This is a multi-functional role dealing with diverse engineering needs, including the ability to gather requirements, generate specification documents, and interface with integration partners, contract manufacturers and internal personnel to design, deploy and sustain custom solutions worldwide. This is a role within NI requiring daily interaction with customers, partners, NI Sales Teams, and Engineering Teams. The role will include:
Interacting with a wide variety of NI customers, NI staff, external partners and suppliers in support of designing, implementing and sustaining of custom solutions
Specifying and defining system configurations and electrical/electronic designs as part of turn-key systems and solution, including parts and component selection
Defining electrical interfaces within a system and designing related custom components and cables
Prototyping, testing, and deploying turnkey automated solutions in the Automotive industry
Traveling as needed (possibly up to 25%) domestically and abroad in support of project objectives
This position is intended to grow into a project technical leadership position including the following responsibilities:
Defining and implementing project plans, managing milestones and holding reviews to ensure systems meet requirements and readiness for deployment
Directing support personnel, managing project technical deliverables, guiding technical decisions and driving field found issues to resolution
Generating requirements documents, statements of work, and Bills of Materials
