Staff Mechanical Engineer

Location: Onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Staff Mechanical Engineer to serve as the key liaison between mechanical and electrical design teams and manufacturing throughout the product development lifecycle. This role is responsible for driving Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives, ensuring products transition efficiently from concept through production while supporting prototype builds, manufacturing readiness, and continuous product improvements.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys working directly on the production floor, and has extensive experience with electromechanical assemblies, high-volume product development, and cross-functional collaboration.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development of mechanical components and electromechanical assemblies from concept through production and post-launch cost reduction initiatives.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between design engineering and manufacturing, ensuring design intent aligns with manufacturing capabilities and production requirements.

  • Drive DFM and DFA reviews to improve manufacturability, assembly efficiency, ergonomics, automation readiness, and serviceability.

  • Support prototype builds through hands-on activities including fit checks, rework, rapid prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing issue resolution.

  • Collaborate with technicians and cross-functional engineering teams to build and validate early prototypes while meeting aggressive development schedules.

  • Document manufacturing feedback, lessons learned, and design improvements to drive continuous product refinement and future design iterations.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • 7+ years of hands-on product development experience supporting high-volume electromechanical products.

  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with working knowledge of electrical systems and electromechanical integration.

  • Experience designing or supporting assemblies such as wire harnesses, busbars, sensors, control panels, plastics, sheet metal, or PCBA assemblies.

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD, PLM systems, engineering documentation, and BOM management.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and high-volume manufacturing processes.

  • Background in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or production support.

  • Experience supporting battery systems, high-voltage products, or other complex electromechanical systems.

  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, or Ethernet.

  • Experience supporting rapid prototyping, design validation, root cause analysis, and production ramp activities.
