About The Role:
Carrier’s Compression Technology team has a unique opportunity for a driven and self-directed sustaining product engineer with ability to sustain Carrier’s compression product lines in centrifugal compression equipment. The position is based in Charlotte NC and will collaborate with resources and stakeholders globally.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include supporting the manufacturing of existing platforms along with introduction of new centrifugal turbomachinery HVAC compressors while collaboratively working with global cross-functional teams.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate dedicated design/drafting teams in compressor design to implement product changes from concept through to production, interfacing with manufacturing and suppliers.
- Timely evaluation of product manufacturing & quality investigations
- Work within a global cross functional team of engineers, designers, and operations to sustaining compression product platforms (quality, cost, manufacturability).
- Applying engineering and quality tools to improve products for robust design, manufacturability, and lowering product cost while meeting component performance and quality requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 7+ years of experience in the production of mechanical equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mechanical design experience with turbomachinery, compressors, engines, or other high speed rotating equipment.
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, quality tools, and GD&T strongly preferred
- Knowledge of common manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, CNC machining, dynamic balancing, lubrication, and bearings is required for effective decision making.
- Ability to take leadership and demonstrate technical depth
- Effective communication skills
- Work effectively in a multi-cultural global organization is essential
- Strong English-speaking ability
