The principle role of the Staff Engineer is to be an equipment and process owner for beverage end/tab and food can manufacture. Process owner for all package testing equipment, optical microscopes and Scanning Electron microscope. Manufacture beverage end/tabs and food cans as needed for coating evaluation. Provide leadership and guidance to the group as beverage ends, tabs and food cans are manufactured and tested in the AE Warrick lab to support the development programs at Warrick Operations. Provide end making and food can expertise to the manufacturing, commercial and CPQA personnel. This role includes complete responsibility for all Food Can/Food End, Beverage End and Tab making equipment, testing and processes.
What you will work on:
Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and safety compliance of all beverage end/tab and food can making equipment and test equipment in the lab and high bay.
Manufacture beverage end/tabs and food cans as needed for coating evaluation.
Provide technical guidance and training for plant engineers, sales representatives, technicians, CPQA and customers in the areas of beverage end and food can manufacture.
Key role in Technical Support of Sales (problem solving) to assess customer field issues.
Use SEM analysis in addition to traditional tools of problem solving for coated products customer field issues.
Demonstrate a personal responsibility in establishing and maintaining a safe work environment.
Acts as an integral part of the help chain in assisting the Customer and Product Quality Assurance (CPQA) Team in problem-solving product performance issues at customer locations. May require 10-25% travel.
What you will bring to the position:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or 15+ years of related experience within a similar field.
5 years’ experience in Tool and Die, Die-set assembly, Stamping Press Operation, Metal Forming, Press Maintenance and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Expertise in beverage end, beverage tab and food can forming processes preferred.
Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Demonstrated capability in leadership and accountability.
Demonstrated capability in written, reporting and oral communications.
Ability to execute tasks independently and without supervision in order to exhibit creativity, but within objectives of program.
Problem solving skills / ability to think outside the box.
Ability to influence others.
Ability to network and collaborate across Advanced Engineering and Warrick.
