Stacker/Press Operator – Steel Manufacturing

About the Position

The Diez Group Kansas City is a tier-one manufacturing supplier of blanked steel and aluminum material serving the automotive industry. We are seeking a Stacker/Press Operator to safely and efficiently set up, change over, operate, and troubleshoot press equipment while maintaining production and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, change over, and safely operate press machines.
• Read and follow work instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
• Prepare workstations and equipment for production.
• Perform die changeovers and select appropriate materials.
• Troubleshoot setup, tooling, and equipment issues.
• Make adjustments to dies, springs, pins, hold-down bolts, and other equipment.
• Operate presses to punch and form parts according to specifications.
• Lubricate materials and parts as required.
• Complete required production and quality paperwork.
• Perform first- and last-part inspections and required quality checks.
• Maintain production, quality, and housekeeping standards.
• Report material shortages, equipment issues, and production concerns.
• Perform rework as needed.
• Identify problems proactively and take appropriate corrective action.
• Follow all safety and company policies.

Requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 1–2 years of relevant manufacturing experience preferred.
• Previous press or warehouse experience preferred; training may be available for motivated candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for machine setup and production.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certifications for powered industrial equipment, including hilo, crane, and manlift.
• Professional crane operator certification is a plus.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify problems, determine root causes, and communicate corrective actions.
• Excellent coordination, focus, and attention to safety.
• Strong attendance and work history.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to take initiative.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Heavy industrial steel manufacturing environment. PPE is required on the plant floor. Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing stairs. Frequent lifting and movement of heavy materials, including items over 50 pounds, may be required. Ability to operate powered industrial equipment such as hilos, cranes, and manlifts is required.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday. Overtime, weekends, and extended hours may be required based on business needs.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
