Senior Spring Coiler / Technician (Journeyman Level)

We are representing a well-established, privately held manufacturer specializing in high-quality precision spring and wire form products serving a diverse industrial customer base. Due to continued growth and operational needs, the company is seeking a Journeyman-Level Senior Spring Coiler / Technician to play a key role in production leadership and technical execution.
Position Overview
This role is responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of spring coiling equipment to produce high-quality compression, extension, torsion, and specialty springs. This individual will also provide shop-floor leadership, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help drive safety and quality performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, program, operate, and maintain CNC and mechanical spring coiling equipment
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
- Select appropriate wire types, tooling, and machine configurations
- Perform inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
- Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and process issues to minimize downtime
- Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to operators and junior technicians
- Coordinate workflow and monitor production output to meet schedules
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
- Support preventive maintenance and recommend process/equipment improvements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in spring coiling or wire forming manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of compression, extension, torsion, and custom spring production
- Experience with CNC and mechanical coiling equipment
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and mechanical systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
- Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles is a plus
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Technical training, apprenticeship, or trade school background preferred
- Experience with secondary operations (grinding, heat treating, finishing) is a plus
- Exposure to ISO or similar quality systems preferred
Work Environment
- Hands-on role based on the manufacturing floor
- Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to ~50 lbs)
- Use of appropriate PPE required
- May require schedule flexibility to support multi-shift operations
