Job Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr. Quality Engineer serves as a key leader in driving quality excellence across the manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for developing and executing advanced quality strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer requirements, and leading cross-functional initiatives that deliver sustainable improvements in product quality and operational performance. The Sr. Quality Engineer acts as a subject matter expert, mentor, and change agent, influencing plant-wide quality culture and aligning quality objectives with business goals.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and implement advanced quality strategies that support plant and corporate objectives.

  • Serve as a primary advisor to leadership on quality risks, compliance, and continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Own and enhance the plant Quality Management System (QMS) to meet ISO and customer standards.

  • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring readiness and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Champion Lean Six Sigma and other structured methodologies to resolve complex quality issues.

  • Drive plant-wide Kaizen events and lead cross-functional teams in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

  • Act as the senior liaison for supplier quality performance, including audits, escalations, and strategic improvement plans.

  • Represent the plant in customer quality reviews, ensuring proactive communication and resolution of issues.

  • Develop advanced statistical models and dashboards to monitor KPIs, predict trends, and inform decision-making.

  • Utilize tools such as Minitab for in-depth analysis of process capability and variation.

  • Provide coaching and training to engineers and operations teams on quality principles, tools, and best practices.

  • Mentor junior quality engineers and technicians, fostering a pipeline of future quality leaders.

  • Oversee creation and maintenance of control plans, FMEAs, SOPs, and process documentation.

  • Ensure robust document control and revision management aligned with corporate standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Quality Engineering within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead, subject matter expert, or project owner for complex quality initiatives.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in ISO standards, APQP, PPAP, SPC, DOE, and advanced statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and leadership through data-driven insights and structured problem-solving.
  • Advanced proficiency with statistical tools (e.g., Minitab) for process capability, variation analysis, and performance monitoring.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent advanced practical experience in manufacturing quality.
  • Demonstrated application of Lean Six Sigma methodologies to resolve complex, cross-functional quality problems (Black Belt certification a plus, not required).
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent professional certification.
  • Experience supporting complex manufacturing processes (e.g., metallurgy, machining, or high-variation production environments).
  • Advanced proficiency in Minitab or similar statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
  • Experience working with global suppliers or customers in a technical quality capacity.

$97,000-$125,000
