Job Overview:

Summary

Leads the design, planning, and execution of capital projects for the company. Researches new and used equipment markets to validate new or improved process changes and optimize spending requirements. A key contributor to the continuous improvement initiatives at our manufacturing plants in Oregon, IL and Toledo, OH. Possesses expert knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems to guide the plant teams through technical troubleshooting needs. This position collaborates closely with local management teams to support business objectives and support all aspects of facility maintenance including repairs, spending, safety improvements, capital projects (engineering and project management), and cost reduction opportunities.

Essential Functions

1. Support plant EH&S programs to address compliance, risk management, and opportunities for improved personnel safety.

2. Lead the design, planning, budgeting, and execution of facility and equipment changes.

3. Works with and manages equipment suppliers, vendors, and contractors.

4. Possesses the knowledge and ability to lead the safe execution of equipment installation initiatives by the plant maintenance technicians in compliance with current codes and standards.

5. Work with plant personnel to develop and maintain effective predictive/preventative

maintenance and reliability programs to maximize uptime and operating efficiency.

6. Support the plant Maintenance Leads to ensure department success with spare part inventory, large scale planning, and repairs.

7. Ongoing education to stay current with latest technology and best practices.

8. Identify, lead, and direct continuous improvement initiatives at both sites.

9. Participate in safe-work planning for non-routine activities as required.

10. Perform maintenance activities as required.

Skills

1. Expert knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, particularly with rotating equipment.

Expertise in process instrumentation is a plus.

2. Intermediate or expert level computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheets, ERP systems

(ideally SAP), and AutoCAD. Experience with and/or programming of PLCs and SCADA systems is a plus.

3. Relevant hands-on experience.

4. Excellent communication/interpersonal skills required.

5. Ability to manage small to medium size projects.

6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team (as either a team member or as a team

leader). Must be able to cooperate and communicate well with others.

7. Excellent conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience

1. B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, OR equivalent technical trade

background

2. Minimum of 5 years of dedicated, hands-on field commissioning or capital equipment

installation experience.

3. 4+ years of industrial experience, leading successful engineering initiatives.

4. Experience with a variety of rotating equipment in a manufacturing environment.

5. Ability to read industrial schematics (both dimensional drawings as well as electrical schematics)

6. Knowledgeable with all applicable code requirements.

7. Strong background in electrical systems up to 480V.

8. Experience with PLC hardware troubleshooting and fieldbus communications is a plus.

9. Ability to stand for long periods, climb platforms, and work hands-on with tools alongside mechanical and electrical contractors.

10. Certifications (Preferred): OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E (Arc Flash Safety), or certified commissioning credentials
