Job Description

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Process Engineering Manager, coordinates and directs development, sustaining, and continuous improvement activities (output, yield, cost reduction) around front end (wafer level) dielectric dry etch, and/or dielectric/metal deposition.

Defines processing and equipment requirements and specifications, and reviews techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of next generation III-V infrared sensors.

The selected candidate will work with a team of technicians, maintenance/equipment personnel, operations management, development and yield engineering.

A strong understanding of infrared detector processes and materials is desirable, along w/ appropriate metrology techniques.

Seeking candidates who exhibit a self-driven sense of urgency, effective collaboration, tolerance of ambiguity, and demonstrated ability to exercise objective technical judgement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Hands familiarity w/ both process and equipment (advanced troubleshooting and RC/CA) involving RIE etch, and dielectric deposition (including ALD & PECVD), & in situ metrology.
    • Strong preference on experience w/ PlasmaTherm Versaline or similar toolsets, including critical subsystems (gas delivery, vacuum pumps & valves, electrodes, etc.)

  • Design, execute, and status production and development experiments. Present technical findings to key technical and non-technical stakeholders. Formal DOE creation, execution, and analysis is a plus.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE/ANOVA), including statistical analysis.
  • Responsible for strong documentation and ownership of area work (process and equipment) instructions, job aids, training/certification, & production/operational standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of key process inputs and outputs, ability to collaborate and troubleshot alongside upstream and downstream process owners and modules.
  • Demonstrated understanding of material/chemical safety data and ability to follow safety protocols & regulations (ex/ LOTO).
  • Ability to partner w/ external vendors to specify, evaluate, and justify capital processing and metrology equipment. Facilitate gated release into production.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability of tying theoretical principles (ab initio) to functional process & equipment improvements in support of production & development roadmaps.
  • Apply structured problem solving (Kepner Tregoe, DMAIC, 8D, or similar) to excursions, capacity constraints, and yield improvements.
  • Experience w/ MES systems in a medium volume, high mix, semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Experience w/ phase gate release methodologies (NPI, phased LRIP).
  • M.S. or equivalent in a STEM field, and a minimum of 1 year of direct semiconductor processing experience.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing full coverall garments for extended periods.

Salary Range:

$113,600.00-$151,400.000
