A Senior PC Technician diagnoses and resolves complex technical issues for computer systems, hardware, software, and networks, trains junior technicians, and ensures optimal system performance by managing installations, configurations, upgrades, and security updates. Key responsibilities include providing technical support, maintaining hardware and software, managing parts inventory, and documenting all service and repair activities.
Responsibilities
The Senior PC Technician is primarily responsible for providing initial front-line support and handling Service Desk tickets for designated locations. Key duties include setting up and configuring new personal computers by loading base images and performing local setups. The role also involves installing special software that requires administrative access, such as Adobe, Microsoft Suite, and UPS software.
The technician is tasked with setting up and configuring both new and existing printers and adjusting print server settings as necessary. Support extends to assisting with the setup and maintenance of Active Directory accounts and Exchange mailboxes. Additionally, the technician manages the collection and disposal of decommissioned equipment and provides installation and support for local networking hardware like switches and firewalls.
Collaboration with the VP of Information and Security and System Administrators on special IT projects is also part of the responsibilities, alongside other duties as assigned. Supervising, mentoring, and training onsite junior PC Technician.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Senior PC Technician role, candidates must have an associate degree in Computer Science or related advanced education. Experience working with end-users in an office environment is essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Operating Systems, including Windows 10 and Windows 11, is required, as is experience with Microsoft Networking and Active Directory.
While knowledge of Citrix Terminal Server and additional Microsoft certifications are beneficial, they are not mandatory. Candidates must have dependable transportation for business-related travel, with mileage reimbursed, and possess a smartphone for departmental communications, which is paid for by the department. Physically, the candidate must be capable of lifting to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
