Be visionary
Teledyne Technologies Incorporated provides enabling technologies for industrial growth markets that require advanced technology and high reliability. These markets include aerospace and defense, factory automation, air and water quality environmental monitoring, electronics design and development, oceanographic research, deepwater oil and gas exploration and production, medical imaging and pharmaceutical research.
We are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins.
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities:
- Methodically drive significant reduction in the frequency/expense of VE cleanroom rejects/test floor reworks, making certain sound engineering analysis is consistently employed, decisions are data driven and an appropriate level of urgency is brought to diagnosing problems and putting lasting corrective measures in place.
- Methodically drive significant process/product variability reductions in those areas or operations viewed as most critical to vacuum envelope yield/performance, making certain we measure variability in reproducible ways, aggregate data on individual models by common process flow, and continually improve both how we define and control our processes.
- Timely resolution of clean room and other manufacturing related equipment issues which potentially impact throughput or product variability, prioritizing those which have the greatest potential impact.
- Timely and structured root cause analysis of non-conforming subassemblies.
- Timely, precise analysis of failed components from TWTs coming off the test floor for rework. Identify failure trends and prioritize response appropriately.
- Provide timely, quality disposition/resolution of VE related supplier issues.
- Contribute to successful new product introductions.
- Staffing & staff development
Primary Roles:
- Lead by example and modeling behaviors aligned with TMS Core Culture:
- Act with a Sense of Urgency –
- Example: Action Plans and Deliverables should be measured in days, not weeks
- Example: Track timeliness of failure analysis ensuring completion within an appropriate turnaround time, as established by VE Engineering management
- Treat a Problem as Yours to Solve –
- Example: Ownership of yield improvements for the four highest running failure modes includes:
- Up-to-date trend analysis for each failure mode.
- Clearly defined action plans to identify and address root cause. Plans should have short timelines with due dates measured in days, not weeks.
- Well thought out engineering analyses inclusive of calculations, modelling, or cross-section, where appropriate
- Operate with an Ownership Mentality
- Example: Mentor VE Engineers on root cause analysis and comprehensive failure resolutions. When failures cross ‘process lines’, ensure there remains ownership through resolution.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement.
- Elicit ongoing input from engineers and assemblers for improvements to processes, procedures, and methods.
- Improvements to performance, manufacturability, cycle times and cost should all be considered.
- Documents should be accurate, contain the necessary engineering requirements, and aid in the proper fabrication of parts and assemblies. If not, the documents must be corrected, not tolerated.
- Perform audits of procedures. Actual assembly process and the defined procedures must align. Be objective when determining the cause of the misalignment. If documentation is poor or incorrect, it must be corrected. If process has diverged simply for ease or misperception, training and correction is required.
- Emphasize teamwork and communication while maintaining ownership mentality.
- Within TWT engineering, M&P and Project engineers must work together closely to solve issues and drive down the price of non-conformance, and to ensure new products are production ready.
- Teledyne MEC is a manufacturer of complex components that are by necessity largely hand built. M&P engineering plays a critical role binding the efforts of Project Engineering and Operations. Ensuring continued success requires sitewide teamwork; an us/them mentality cannot be tolerated
Requirements
- At least a minimum of ten (10) years’ of relevant experience in leading and managing a manufacturing organization, with a strong preference for a background in Defense and/or RF Microwave. High Power Vacuum Electronic Device experience is preferred, but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or Operations related postgraduate degree preferred.
- US Citizen and able to attain Security Clearance
- Understanding of standard manufacturing practices, AS9000 /ISO9001 quality requirements.
- Successful track record for building, and maintaining, strong internal and external customer relationships.
- Demonstrate ability to exercise sound judgment and make timely business decisions.
Preferred
- 4 year Technical Degree or higher
- Prior experience in improving manufacturing outputs, standardized practices inclusive of implementing lean manufacturing principles and supply chain management
Salary Range:
$174,900.00-$234,740.000
