This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security, and Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will manage a team of Material Planners responsible for creating replenishment manufacturing orders and purchase requisitions while proactively identifying clear-to-build blockers and engaging appropriate team members to resolve and mitigate schedule risks. You will help implement revised processes and use of new system features to drive strategic initiatives that improve the accuracy and effectiveness of the Material Requirements Planning system. As a Material Planning Manager, you will be a hands-on leader, learning and improving system functionality while sharing your technical expertise to coach others and actively engaging your team to solve problems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of material planning including coordination with the Program Office, Operations Management and Supply Chain teams to ensure material availability that supports challenging production targets.
  • Manage a Material Planning team of approx. 8-12 specialists (size of team may vary), training and developing them, monitoring and guiding their performance, and performing day-to-day managerial tasks such as representing the organization at meetings, reporting progress to executive leadership, supporting escalations, etc.
  • Ensure team’s performance is enabling program milestones and goals to be met while adhering to approved budgets by anticipating potential schedule risks and resolving in a timely manner
  • Define system requirements for planning software and work with the internal technology development team to iterate and introduce new functionality within internal platforms and integration with third party systems.
  • Monitor completeness and effectiveness of Planning Attributes within Item Masters to reflect desired batch sizes and reorder points, reducing cost while also preventing stockouts.
  • Drive process and system improvements that result in successful orchestration of cross-site material planning, engineering changes, and part lifecycle management.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • BA or BS degree or equivalent experience with emphasis in supply chain or business management
  • 10+ years with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment. Significant understanding of MRP is a requirement. Additional experience with MES, PLM and APS systems is desired.
  • 3+ years in a direct management role
  • Highly effective and professional verbal and written communication skills with team, executive leaders, internal customers and suppliers that includes a strong focus on teamwork and internal/external customer satisfaction
  • A continuous improvement mindset. Our job is never complete; we are always optimizing.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Desired:

  • Experience working on development programs or production lines in both leadership and hands-on roles; experience on aerospace or commercial development programs a plus.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; data driven, using input and output metrics and KPIs to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions to improve overall performance of team, systems and processes.
