The pay range is $95,000.00 - $171,000.00

A role in Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory (FSQR) compliance means working in a critical area supporting Target’s efforts to identify, prioritize, and minimize areas of food safety and compliance risk, while proactively educating and equipping team members with guidance tools, processes, and training. You will have many resources available as you leverage technology, metrics, reporting, and communication to monitor and drive compliance in this critical area.

As an FSQR Senior Manager, you will…

  • Attract, develop and retain a high performing team of subject matter experts on food regulations, claims, and nutrition to drive regulatory compliance across Target's Owned Brand Food & Beverage Business

  • Coach and provide resources to team members to enable the development and implementation of food labeling and regulatory programs

  • Work collaboratively across teams and build relationships with leaders to identify and manage food safety, quality and regulatory risk (including claims, labeling, etc.) for Owned Brand Food product development while meeting business goals and development timelines

  • Support Owned Brand Food growth by defining product specification/label/claim requirements, playing a key role in the overall product development and review process

  • Partner internally to evaluate pending labeling regulations and external developments to assess claims risks and recommend options to meet business goals

  • Lead multiple, concurrent FSQR, cross-functional/ cross-pyramid teams to drive continuous improvement projects, working with stakeholders to define, communicate, and measure success for complex business objectives

  • Support strategic planning through the assessment and management of current programs and resources, to influence and support business initiatives

  • Manage oversight of third-party contracts and vendors as necessary to manage risk and advance FSQR and food & beverage business goals

  • Establish and cultivate an external network and represent Target FSQR with industry partners (vendors, professional/ trade organizations) to contribute new ideas and approaches to food safety, quality and regulatory programs

About you:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of technical experience in consumer-packaged foods; 5+ years food labeling experience required; food manufacturer experience preferred; 2+ years of product development and commercialization experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Food Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of CFR - FTC, FDA, USDA, and applicable state laws

  • Experience with ingredient and product specifications, labeling, and artwork/packaging review and approval for consumer-packaged foods

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence high-performing teams

  • Strong written and oral communication and negotiation skills and self-motivation

  • Effective in collaborating with and influencing internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong and proven track record of critical thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution

  • Exhibits good judgement and decisiveness

  • Effective project management, strategic planning, and organizational skills

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results with minimal direction; demonstrates a growth mindset

  • Able to manage multiple tasks or projects and deliver consistently against timelines

  • Values and seeks out diverse perspectives and work styles

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
