POSITION OVERVIEW:
Sr. Manager of Facilities & Maintenance will be responsible for establishing the strategic vision for manufacturing operations that are heavily reliant on capital equipment and capacity reliability. Also, this role will oversee a team to manage the day-to-day operations of the facilities and maintenance department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing equipment repairs, creating work schedules, monitoring labor efficiency, managing departmental budgets, and leading a large team. The Manager will also coordinate third-party vendors such as janitorial services to ensure a clean and well-maintained facility while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish a vision for the F&M department that supports and scales with the growth of investments and business operations.
- Schedule and ensure the completion of regular, rigorous, ongoing preventive maintenance in all facilities and for all capital equipment and assets, including comprehensive spare parts inventory.
- Establish partnerships with 3rd party service suppliers to supplement support needs for facilities and equipment to ensure business operations continuity.
- Build out an F&M team of skilled trades that meet the support requirements and competencies required to support high-volume manufacturing and multiple facilities.
- Direct departmental activity relating to machine maintenance and equipment repairs.
- Create work schedules and monitor departmental labor hours.
- Coordinate with and oversee the productivity of 3rd party vendors such as janitorial services to ensure that the facilities are properly cleaned and maintained
- Monitor use and condition of equipment and tools used for repairs; order, replace, and approve requests for additional tools and materials for the department as needed, per budget allocations.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings; participate in staff meetings.
- Observe, correct, or report additional maintenance needs.
JOB SKILLS:
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ability to plan and manage resources and tradesmen to optimize resources.
- Strong critical thinking skills and a hands-on approach to leadership.
- Strong understanding of budget management, cost control, and resource allocation.
- In-depth knowledge of equipment maintenance, tools, and facility management best practices.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to conduct meetings and collaborate across departments.
- Experience coordinating with third-party vendors, including janitorial and maintenance service providers.
- Computer skills. Microsoft 365, Google Suite, scheduling tools (Primavera, Smartsheets).
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Ten plus years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
- Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Prior Managerial Skills
- Experience in sourcing capital equipment and equipment support services
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Certification in facilities management, maintenance, or a related field.
- Certification in one or more of the following:
- Electrical
- HVAC
- Mechanical
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work performed in a shop environment.
- Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
- Requires normal vision and absence of color blindness.
- Physical effort equal to frequent moving of up to 50 lbs. of materials.
- Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach.
- The use of Safety Glasses is required.
- The use of earplugs is recommended.
- Ability to stand up to 10 hours a day (with a lunch in between) and up to 6 days a week.
- Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
- Steel-toe boots required in the Manufacturing Facility.
