What You Will Achieve
You will be part of a dynamic team of experts who form Pfizer’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) division. Due to the importance of this team for Pfizer’s employees and patients, the organization relies heavily on its team members’ timely actions and decision-making ability. You will oversee the administration and development of the Safety program for the Rocky Mount site in North Carolina and will work collaboratively with all other supporting functions to develop and implement initiatives and solutions to ensure world class production of medicines. Responsibilities include providing strategic leadership and guidance in achieving Safety-related performance objectives, compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, Pfizer standards and industry consensus standards, and representing the Corporation’s interests by interacting and negotiating with State and local regulators. The role will be responsible for collaborating with Site Leadership to establish and execute the Safety plan for the site. This position requires championing and driving cultural change at the site to enhance site safety cultural and a zero-incident mindset. This role reports to the Director of EHS and Security.
As a Senior Manager, you will be setting the objectives for multiple projects in your division. Your managerial and technical skills will help in guiding the team members. You will manage performance of direct and indirect reports and support Operating Unit objectives through goal setting, assessment, coaching and performance evaluation of team members. Your understanding of the external marketplace and customer requirements will facilitate in instituting knowledge sharing practices in your team and outside. You shall be relied on to manage operational activities that support the goals of the division and sets direction for its success.

How You Will Achieve It
Serve as site Safety Lead and supervise members of the Safety Team
Effectively lead and manage Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security initiatives and programs with a focus on Safety
Maintains knowledge of all applicable corporate, federal, state and local health and safety regulatory requirements. Stays abreast of developing regulatory requirements, particularly on a state and local level.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, Pfizer standards, and industry consensus standards
Create the strategic plan to identify injury reduction and risk mitigation strategies and to work with site leadership to create and implement accompanying action plans
Lead gap assessments of existing programs, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and lead the Safety Team to close gaps and implement solutions
Establish and execute Leading Safety Indicators and other key EHS metrics for the site
Developing and conducting EHS-related training to colleagues or contractors on an as needed basis
Lead Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence initiatives
Champion cultural change at the site through acting as the VPP liaison and as well as other cultural initiatives
Supports site master plan and site strategy implementation
Candidate will demonstrate personal leadership, initiative, judgment, and accountability in day-to-day work activities in addition to exhibiting strong planning/organizational skills
Must possess strong communication skills and demonstrate integrity and cooperation in working with diverse colleagues/groups
Qualifications
Must-Have
BS in Engineering, Science or EHS-related field with 7+ years of experience in a similar position within EHS with preference toward chemical manufacturing with a BS degree
Experience in leading an EHS team
Extensive experience in all safety programs
Detailed expertise in the risk management (assessment and implementation of risk mitigation strategies)
Safety practitioner with broad technical and regulatory experience who can effectively work with senior management, across multiple disciplines, in a matrixed organization
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
Proficient in MS Office applications
Nice-to-Have
MS from an accredited university in EHS-related field
Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry
CSP, CIH, or other EHS-related professional certification
Experience with Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $131,200.00 to $218,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
