Job Overview:

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a highly hands-on Maintenance Technician II to serve as the primary onsite maintenance resource for a manufacturing and distribution operation. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems while supporting preventive maintenance, work orders, vendors, and maintenance projects.

The ideal candidate is a true doer and problem solver who enjoys diagnosing issues, making repairs, and taking ownership of getting problems resolved. This person should be comfortable working independently and partnering with production and vendors to keep the operation running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment and facility systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs, adjustments, and equipment rebuilds.
  • Repair and maintain pumps, mixers, valves, motors, piping systems, and other production equipment.
  • Perform basic plumbing and non-licensed electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns, identify root causes, and take ownership of resolving issues.
  • Support equipment installations, startups, upgrades, automation initiatives, and capital projects.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for equipment and facility maintenance as needed.
  • Perform and support preventive maintenance activities.
  • Create, manage, and close work orders within the site's CMMS.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment history.
  • Ensure necessary parts, materials, and tools are available for maintenance work.
  • Partner with production and operations to prioritize maintenance needs and minimize downtime.
  • Build strong relationships across both shifts, particularly with the second-shift team.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency, and facility performance.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant maintenance environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, trade school, military technical training, or associate degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, process manufacturing, chemical, distribution, or a similar environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Experience with pumps, mixers, motors, valves, piping, rotating equipment, or production machinery.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and CMMS/work order systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, drawings, and equipment documentation.
  • Experience working with contractors and outside service providers.
  • SAP PM experience is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to support a 2-shift operation and respond to maintenance needs outside normal hours when required.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.
