Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RI&S) is looking to staff a Sr. Hardware Quality Engineer position at our Richardson, TX facility.
The effective candidate will provide quality engineering support and expertise to Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RI&S) to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements.
Additional roles and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Ensure the Richardson EO Innovations cross-functional engineering development and product teams are aware of and adhere to applicable program requirements defined in the required contractual Quality Requirements.
- Review and approve all product development, manufacturing instructions and standard operating plans before use, including revision change to product and process requirements.
- Provide product assurance in the development, integration and test of engineering hardware.
- Ensure Special Test Equipment (STE) and tooling comply with approved assembly and tooling drawings, assembly instructions, test procedures and metrology requirements.
- Participate in, approve manufacturing, and test readiness reviews after verifying all required actions are complete and correct.
- Engage with Engineering and Operations in transition to production activities, including Advance Production Quality Planning (APQP) and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify potential product and process risks and mitigation actions.
- Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) and delta FAI on internally manufactured items.
- Perform lab-manufacturing audits to verify product safety requirements are adhered to throughout build and test, including Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Foreign Object Damage (FOD), critical lifts and storage.
- Verify calibration status of equipment before use, and the identification and segregation of all out of tolerance equipment and tooling, and lead investigation into product impact.
- Conduct autonomous product and process assessments, root cause and corrective/preventive action plan implementation.
- Guide dropped and damaged hardware processing and incident reporting.
- Conduct timely identification, segregation, disposition, correction and closure of nonconforming material, including Material Review Board activities.
- Participate in manufacturing/product Corrective Action Boards.
- Review deliverable Acceptance and Test Data Packages (ADP/TDP) to assure they are correct and complete as defined by the contract before submitting to customer acceptance.
- Ensure correct identified, handling, documentation, and accountability while Government/Customer Furnished Equipment/Material is outside of designated secured/bonded stock areas.
- Oversee processing of customer returned material and control of deficiency report documents from receipt to delivery of corrected product.
- Ensure operator, inspector and test technician certifications are current.
- Support program, corporate and third-party audits and assessments.
- Act on all applicable material, product and equipment alerts to prevent impact to product reliability using the nonconformance and/or purge process.
U.S. Citizenship required, as the candidate must have the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance within first year of start date.
Required Skills
- Five (5) years’ experiences in Quality, Mission Assurance, Hardware Quality, or related engineering field
- Ability to technically interface with various engineering disciplines and customers
- Ability to facilitate constructive meetings, document actions and follow-up on actions
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with internal and external customers, suppliers in a dynamic team environment
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and apply decision–making skills with appropriate supervisory intervention
- Excellent verbal / written communications and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively influence and be impactful impact through positive interactions with stakeholders, team members, suppliers and leadership
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross functional process improvement teams
- Must be proficient in MS Office computer skills, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Desired Skills
- Optical component manufacturing experience
- Six Sigma, American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certifications, Level 5 Mission Assurance Certification (Internal candidates)
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management Systems
- Proficient in the use of Pareto Analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping
- Experience with SAP applications.
Education
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
