Job Summary

The Sr. Firmware Test Automation (IoT) Engineer is a key member of the dynamic team whose mission is to develop best in class smart locks and make them as part of people’s everyday life. As a firmware test automation engineer, you will be working across multiple cutting-edge technologies, developing next generation of smart locks as part of smart home devices and IoT system, with primary focus on firmware test automation. You are required to have passion in technologies such as battery, WIFI(6/AC/N etc.)/BLE, networking including MQTT, TCP/IP, HTTP etc., hardware/firmware security, clouding computing (AWS, Azure), Alexa/Google Home/Apple’s Siri, data/analytics, AI, mobile apps, secure OTA etc.

As a member of the development team, you will be leading and involved in developing new test solutions, concepts, and the integration of our smart electronic locks into our ecosystem or our partners’ ecosystems. You will contribute to and be responsible for all phases of embedded firmware test development.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • (50%) Architect and develop IoT firmware test automation solutions for New Product Introductions (NPI), New Features or Enhancements to existing products inclusive of scope, architect, design, develop, test, and validate, release to production and future support of solutions.
  • (10%) Develop or manage 3rd parties to create test automation tools that ensure product firmware meets design requirements and operates consistently and reliably over time.
  • (25%) Develop test procedure, automation, and support for product manufacturing
  • (5%) Identify opportunities for test automation to enable more efficient functional testing, regression testing, ongoing reliability testing, while improving repeatability and cycle time.
  • (5%) Work with engineering leaders to develop test reporting and metric tools to enable clear understanding of ongoing results and product reliability and readiness.
  • (5%) Work closely with onshore and offshore firmware test teams and provide mentoring and coaching.

Education and Experience Profile

  • 3 - 5 years of professional firmware engineering experience
  • BS or MS Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering

Required Skills

  • 5+ years programming skills and experience with python, JS, Labview or comparable programming languages and frameworks used for test automation.
  • 3+ years hands on experience and playing a technical lead role in test automation.
  • 3+ years of experience developing test automation for networked devices in consumer or commercial products.
  • 3+ years of test automation experience in developing product using WIFI, BLE or low power wireless protocols such as Zigbee/Z-wave, chip-to-chip communication protocols or interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.).
  • Experience in integrating test automation into the DevOps and CI/CD, including nightly builds, and processes to ensure quality releases.
  • Experience in developing automated test software to improve test coverage, comfortable with the interactions between hardware, firmware, mobile app and cloud APIs.
  • Excellent documentation practices and attention to detail and familiar with Confluence, Jira, Jenkin, Travis, TestLink (or equivalent).
  • Detail oriented and organized, able to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying degrees of complexity, priority, and urgency.
  • Strong communication skills: written and oral for different technical or business audiences.
  • Some travel is required

Additional Desired Skills

  • Engaging and supporting external partners to accelerate our connected product development
  • Experience in architecting and implementing end-to-end test solutions for IoT and mobile services
  • Experience building product test fixtures capable of physical interaction with products, motors/actuators/sensors/etc.
  • Experience in battery or power related tests on IOT products.
  • Web-programming and scripting language skill set (CSS, XHTML, JavaScript, HTML5)
  • Exposure to iOS and/or Android mobile applications and Cloud (AWS/Azure)
