As an Sr. Engineering Lab Technician, you will be responsible for leading engineering lab activities, including building test setups, gathering materials, and performing testing. In this role, you will contribute to ensuring product quality, improving processes, supporting research and development efforts, and providing accurate data for decision-making.


What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate closely with the laboratory team to execute testing on Proof of Concept, prototypes, pilots, and other experimental units related to development projects

  • Execute testing projects, provide ongoing feedback to stakeholders, identify functional problems and recommend solutions

  • Support product development as it relates to performance/validation testing: custom test fixture build, system charge and reclaim, system modification and rebuilds, instrumentation, publish test data and reports.

  • Providing technical hands-on expertise, supporting industry leading equipment development

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable standards (e.g., ANSI, IEEE, IEC, UL, DOE, etc.)

  • Observe work processes, equipment, and interactions and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Perform testing as it relates to safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., DOE, ENERGY STAR, UL, IEC, etc.).

  • Implement 5S+ principles to ensure a clean, safe, and productive laboratory environment

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and stakeholders, to achieve project goals

Skills/Experience We’re Looking For

  • Proficiency is refrigeration equipment and process: Integrated valves, compressors/condensers, tubing, controls, data logging, pumps, pneumatics, nozzles, charging, reclaim, etc.

  • Industry certification in handling/charging/reclaim of A2/A2L/A3 refrigerants

  • Mechanical aptitude, hands-on assembly, modification, tinkering and optimizing refrigeration systems

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment



Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s in Technical Engineering or a related technical field

  • 10+ years of relevant refrigeration system experience

  • Experience with all manner of general laboratory equipment (data acquisition, multimeter, oscilloscope, analog and digital meters, and similar)
