Sr Engineer, Sustainment Automation Systems Engineer (Effectors) – 2nd Shift Onsite Tucson (hours are 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM)

Raytheon Industry 4.0 – Connected Factory & Intelligence (CFI&A) has an immediate opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and innovative Automation Systems Engineer (ASE) team member within the Effectors portfolio, focusing on Sustainment of state-of-the-art robotic assembly cells.

The role includes sustaining and continuous improvement of physical automation solutions (robots, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems) and the accompanying spares & service requirements thereof. The ability to actively manage and adapt to new problems on the factory floor is a critical aspect of the role.

What You Will Learn

This role will merge technical, manufacturing, and business knowledge to drive new innovations across Raytheon. The role has a foundation in controls engineering and will allow for knowledge growth on advanced robotic equipment that is transforming the way that Raytheon assembles product. Learning the intricacies of every custom cell and overcoming the inevitable equipment challenges, including mechanical, electrical, and programming, will be paramount to your success. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative team of automation systems engineers onsite in Tuscan, AZ

What You Will Do:

Initial triage and recovery of faults on 15+ pieces of custom robotics around the factory
Continuously improve and troubleshoot automation systems, primarily on Robotics, PLCs, Automated Guided Vehicles, and Vision Systems
Integrate and manage spares inventory for active and upcoming systems
Manage service contracts and preventative maintenance of custom robotics
Create electrical schematics for internally developed applications
Liaise with manufacturing engineering and operators to understand and resolve issues

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a STEM University Degree or equivalent experience with 5 years of experience in controls engineering or automation engineering
Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
Experience with Rockwell PLCs, HMIs and the accompanying software
Fanuc Robotics experience
Machine vision experience
Experience creating electrical schematics per NRTL guidelines
Ability to obtain Interim Secret DoD U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

Keyence, Cognex, iRVision experience
Structured text experience
CORE certification

This position is 2nd Shift Onsite Tucson (hours are 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM)

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
