Summary
The Senior Data Analyst plays a critical role in advancing Simplot’s data and analytics strategy by delivering insights that drive better business decisions and operational outcomes. This role bridges business needs with data capabilities by partnering with cross-functional teams to translate complex data into actionable insights, particularly across global sales, forecast, and financial reporting domains.
The Senior Data Analyst actively supports the development and delivery of scalable data solutions, with a strong focus on semantic data models that enable accurate, consistent, and business-ready reporting.
As an individual contributor, the Senior Data Analyst is responsible for creating technical specification documents, managing requirements, defining metrics, and partnering closely with data engineering teams and business teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The role influences planning, prioritization, and continuous improvement of analytics work, ensuring alignment with business priorities and long-term data strategy.
This role will be onsite in Boise, ID.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates with business and analytics partners to understand and translate moderately to highly complex data and analytics use cases into scalable data engineering solutions.
- Partners with engineers and product stakeholders to capture, refine, and implement functional requirements for data pipelines, data models, and semantic layers. Supports ongoing refinement of requirements throughout the solution lifecycle to ensure alignment with business needs.
- Supports testing and validation activities, including:
- Defining data validation rules and test cases
- Partnering with engineers and business users during UAT
- Ensuring data quality, completeness, and accuracy prior to release
Typical Education
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
Relevant Experience
5+ years related experience and/or training
Knowledge & Skills Minimum Requirements
- Strong leadership and influencing skills within the analytics lifecycle, including requirements definition, data modeling, reporting, and insight delivery. Demonstrates the ability to guide stakeholders and drive alignment across business and technical teams.
- Advanced skills in requirements gathering and documentation, including defining business use cases, translating requirements into data and reporting solutions, and ensuring clarity and completeness throughout the solution lifecycle.
- Experience supporting end-to-end delivery of analytics solutions, including participation in one or more full release cycles. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across geographically distributed teams.
- Working knowledge of data solution design, testing, and implementation practices, with the ability to validate outputs, define test scenarios, and support user acceptance testing (UAT) for reporting and analytics deliverables.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, particularly as they relate to semantic data models and reporting layers used in Power BI and enterprise analytics platforms.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with data analysis and reporting tools, such as Power BI, SQL, and other analytics technologies.
- Strong meeting planning and facilitation skills.
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of standard business processes; strong ability to align product scope with business objectives.
