Job Overview:
Responsibilities
- Create and edit CNC programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centers.
- Develop machining strategies, tool paths, and setup documentation for complex components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
- Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
- Support machinists during machine setup, prove-outs, and production runs.
- Troubleshoot machining, programming, and quality issues as they arise.
- Optimize existing programs to improve cycle times, quality, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams on new product launches and process improvements.
- Ensure all programs meet quality, safety, and production requirements.
- Maintain organized program files, tooling records, and process documentation.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience programming true simultaneous 5-axis machining centers.
- Proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam, Tebis, HyperMill, NX, Fusion 360, or similar.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T.
- Strong understanding of cutting tools, workholding, feeds, speeds, and machining practices.
- Experience with machine setup, prove-outs, and process optimization.
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens, or similar CNC controls.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with aerospace, defense, automotive, medical, or precision machining industries.
- Exposure to automation, probing systems, and CMM inspection equipment.
- Experience supporting new machine installations and process development.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
