Job Overview:

The New Product Development team in our Monroe, CT facility is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to realize new customer products and support their rapid prototyping. The position supports a small R&D team and core machinery within an established production facility to bring new products to technology readiness. The team services a varied customer base centered around the manufacture of precision components for the semiconductor capital equipment market. The R&D team will realize concept and manufacturing method to bring Ceramic/composite designs from raw powder to nanometer-level-precision products. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Render 2D part drawings and solid models from Corporate CAD platform
  • Create and maintain operative part Bill of Materials and revision control
  • Apply manufacturing principles and stock allowance standards to create in-process manufacturing drawings
  • Evaluate new customer designs and engage in Design for Manufacturability feedback
  • Participate in customer discussion for new concept development
  • Document specialized tool designs and/or collaborate on new concepts in coordination with manufacturing engineering
  • Maintain Design and Change management documentation consistent with ISO and customer standards, periodically demonstrate compliance to accrediting bodies
  • Exercise task management for longer term projects including activity planning, supplier interface and status reporting
  • Prepare product Design, BOM and Manufacturing flow skeleton documentation for the transfer of successful products to manufacturing

Education & Experience

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related fields required with 5+ years minimum experience utilizing CAD platform
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, including machining, grinding, lapping, material handling and assembly
  • Relevant certifications or experience a strong plus, such as GD&T, CAM, ISO, FEA, Black Belt, CMM, Lean/Kaizen, others

Skills

  • Strong background with CAD in 2D and 3D environments (Preference for Creo/Windchill)
  • Mature knowledge of Geometric Tolerancing and practical application
  • Mature knowledge of mechanical manufacturing strategy, work holding, manufacturing datums and stock allowances
  • Working understanding of inspection equipment and methods, including CMM, interferometer, hand tools, visual tools, etc.
  • CAM and/or CMM programming a plus
  • Comfort and willingness to engage in hands-on problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability to lead team of engineers and technicians
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of advanced materials, particularly ceramics a plus
  • Working knowledge of data analysis tools (SPC, MiniTab and DoE)
  • Experience with problem solving and resolution (8D, fishbone, etc.)
  • Experience with networked PC based computer system (MS Office Suite, graphics, MRP systems, etc.)

Physical Requirements

•           Ability to occasionally lift/push/pull up to 20 lbs.

•          Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility. 

•          Walk of uneven and slippery surfaces
