Job Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Automation Test Engineer (ATE) is responsible for leading ATE projects to drive Test Uptime, Machine enhancements, manage controls projects, and schedule work through operations. The role supports high-power testing activities for large-scale electrical power systems, including UPS, PDU, STS, and Energy Storage Solutions. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant testing operations while driving continuous improvement through Lean principles, 5S, and strong collaboration with Engineering, Operations, and Facilities teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Automation initiatives in the Test manufacturing environment.
  • Drive solutions for enhancing test manufacturing efficiency.
  • Day-to-Day resolutions of manufacturing/test issues encountered during execution.
  • Lead the design and deployment of electrical test fixtures and work instructions.
  • Coordinate all tooling, fixturing and assembly-aid designs, integration and implementation.
  • Oversee the design for manufacturing analysis of new designs.
  • Investigate, purchase, and support the implementation of tooling and equipment for future strategic initiatives.
  • Support all safety initiatives.
  • Direct documentation of all Test related standard operating procedures within the applicable business area.
  • Support all Vertiv Operating System Standards.
  • Keep Test Manager informed of progress/problems.  Recommends changes in procedures. 
  • Utilize AI technology to enhance Testing systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSEE/BSEET in Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent degree and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in high power testing.  Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Strong knowledge of large UPS systems, PDUs, STSs, and/or energy storage systems
  • Controls experience, VBA programming, Networking & Schematics
  • Strong project management skills required
  • Lean & Sig Sigma certifications or equivalents is desired
  • Possess advanced experience in plant layout
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Project Management
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional attitude towards customer relations.
  • Self-directed, good problem-solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 + Years Industrial or relevant commercial/industrial installation/integration experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of AC and Power Distribution products is preferred
  • Experience in data center, critical power, or mission-critical infrastructure environments.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards (UL, IEC, IEEE).
  • Intermediate AutoCAD skills preferred
  • Experience with WinPM, WinCC, Siemens PLCs, LabVIEW/ TestStand programming, documentation, procedures, instrument calibration, Microsoft Office

TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED

  • 10% or less
