About Great Plains Industries

More than product. We are a family of innovation

Great Plains Industries (GPI) was built on the belief that engineering, ingenuity, and perseverance can create opportunities that last for generations. Founded by engineer Charlie Peer, GPI began as a small entrepreneurial venture that grew into a global leader with a strong family‑owned heritage.

In 1968, Charlie launched his first business—Aerospace Systems and Components—by designing an air‑mixing valve for Learjet. As the aviation industry fluctuated, he recognized the stability and potential of the agriculture market. That insight led to the development of an evaporative air conditioning unit and a small transfer pump for combine cabs—products that became the foundation for the company’s future. Through years of innovation, engineering excellence, and building teams fueled by entrepreneurial spirit, Great Plains Industries has grown into the home of the GPI®, FLOMEC®, and GPRO® brands.

Today, our products serve a wide range of Industrial, Commercial, and Retail applications—including fuel, agriculture, chemicals, manufacturing, construction, mining, and oil & gas. Our legacy of durability, superior engineering, and strong customer relationships reflects our Midwestern values and deep commitment to the people and industries we serve.

In 2013, GPI expanded globally through the acquisition of Trimec Industries of Sydney, Australia—now Great Plains Industries Australia. As a leading manufacturer of flow meters and instrumentation, the addition of Trimec strengthened our global presence and upheld our tradition of reliability and world‑class engineering across Asia and Europe.

Backed by the strength of our holding company, Great Plains Ventures, GPI is positioned for a long and exciting future. GPV continues to invest in manufacturing excellence, modernizing processes, developing strong teams, and pursuing strategic acquisitions that support long‑term growth.

With two manufacturing and sales locations, we proudly support customers across the globe with localized expertise and a commitment to innovation, quality, and service.
