Job Description

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

What You’ll Do:

 
  • Oversee and manage a staff of Quality Inspectors.
  • Mentor and lead the team through daily work processes and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance to AS9100.
  • Act as point of contact for external and internal customers regarding product quality issues.
  • Strive for continuous improvement, driving down cost of poor quality and improving efficiency while maintaining a strong "Safety First" culture.
  • Research and use best practices and work with local stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of the quality management system (QMS).
  • Through the Quality team, continually work to reduce quality escapement risk, modernize and enhance analytical and inspection capabilities, and improve efficiencies and business processes.
  • Supervise the production of the Quality Improvement Associates ensuring effective skill assessment of new and existing staff and to facilitate training to address the gaps identified.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data to prepare reports and make recommendations.
  • Develop programs and lead training for A3 projects and Kaizen events.
  • Maintain, modify, apply, and develop quality evaluation control systems and protocols.
  • Manage and replace inspection equipment across three dimensional labs.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
 

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:

 
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor. 

Required Skills and Education

  • BS/BA in related field plus 4 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Experience operating within the AS9100 standard.
  • Analytical ability and strong background in problem solving techniques (A3, DMAIC, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computer to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database applications.
  • Experience developing short and long-term strategies for an organization and incorporating Six Sigma, Agile, and other practices.
  • Experience leading key projects for improvement across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to provide collaborative training, mentoring, and coaching.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. 


Preferred Skills and Education

  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • CMM operation or programming in PC-DMIS and/or Calypso.

Typical Education and Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience
