Job Summary

The Spot Welder is responsible for performing resistance spot welding operations to assemble precision sheet metal components in accordance with specifications and quality standards. This role supports the welding and fabrication departments by preparing, aligning, and welding components safely and efficiently. The Spot Welder works under close supervision and follows established work instructions and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welding Operations- Operate spot welding equipment to assemble metal components according to blueprints and work instructions.

    • Ensure proper alignment of parts and clean contact surfaces before welding.
    • Inspect completed welds for quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Material Handling & Preparation- Handle sheet metal components safely to prevent damage.

    • Assist in preparing parts for welding, including cleaning, clamping, and fitting.
    • Return fixtures and tools to designated areas after use.
  • Quality & Inspection- Perform visual inspections of welds to identify defects such as poor penetration, misalignment, or surface marks.

    • Report non-conformances or part defects to supervisor or quality team.
  • Documentation & Reporting

  • Record work performed on job travelers or time tracking systems.

  • Follow standard operating procedures and AS9100 documentation requirements

  • Safety & Housekeeping

  • Wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety protocols related to welding operations.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.

  • Report equipment issues or safety concerns immediately

Qualifications

Education and Experience

o High school diploma or GED preferred.

o 0–1 year of welding or metal fabrication experience.

o Experience in a manufacturing or sheet metal environment is a plus.

Skills and Competencies

o Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

o Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

o Willingness to learn and follow established processes.

**Work Environment & Physical Requirements **

  • This role involves working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and production noise with exposure to heat and sparks.
  • Physical tasks include standing, lifting 50 lbs, and performing repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Must adhere to all safety protocols and ensure team compliance with workplace safety standards

Schedule

  • Hours: 2:15 PM – 10:45 PM, Monday – Friday
  • Flexibility may be required based on business needs and workflow demands.

Compensation

  • Hourly Range: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
  • Benefits include shared-cost health care, paid holidays, paid time off, and a 401(k) with company match after a waiting period.
