**Additional Notes:
**
The Sourcing Manager owns the strategy, supplier relationships and major negotiations. This Specialist is the person behind the manager doing the analysis that allows the manager to make those decisions.
For example, Kroger gets a proposed price increase from a supplier:
Supplier: “Our cost is going up 7%, so we need to raise Kroger's price.”
The Specialist isn't necessarily the person who ultimately negotiates the deal. They're doing the homework:
Why 7%? What's actually changed? What are the commodity inputs doing? What are we paying other suppliers? What's the total financial impact? What happens under different scenarios? Is the increase justified? Where could Kroger push back?
- Then they might put that analysis into Excel and build the business case / negotiation materials for the Sourcing Manager.
- cost-change validation, comparative analysis, cost structures/drivers, scenario modeling and negotiation-plan development
