Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Electronics Assembler / SMT Soldering Technician
to perform
high-precision manual soldering, PCB assembly, and rework
for prototype and production circuit boards. This role supports machine-placed components and requires hands-on experience with
surface mount (SMT) and through-hole soldering, component placement, inspection, and documentation. Ideal for technicians with a strong background in
high-reliability electronics manufacturing, including aerospace and defense programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform
manual soldering, hand assembly, and component placement
on SMT and through-hole PCBs.
- Support automated assembly lines through
onsertion/insertion, reflow support, and hand solder touch-ups.
- Conduct
microscope inspections
to ensure compliance with J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and customer requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and customer-supplied documentation.
- Clean assemblies using
manual methods and automated cleaning systems.
- Complete accurate
production records, quality logs, and defect documentation.
- Perform
rework and repair
on electronic assemblies as needed.
- Maintain compliance with the
Quality Management System (QMS)
and all internal processes.
- Maintain
technical certifications
and participate in re-certification as required.
- Support a
clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Ability to obtain/maintain
J-STD-001 certification with Space Addendum
(required).
- IPC-A-610 certification (preferred).
- 5+ years of SMT soldering experience
in a high-reliability electronics assembly environment.
- Strong understanding of
component identification, polarity, ESD practices, and IPC standards.
- Ability to read and interpret
technical drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
- High attention to detail and comfort performing
repetitive precision tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within a small, fast-paced team.
- Ability to lift
35 lbs
and safely operate soldering tools, microscopes, and assembly equipment.
Education & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
required.
- U.S. Citizenship required
(due to project and customer requirements).
- Must pass a
background check and drug screening.
- Ability to work a
4/10 schedule, Monday–Thursday.
