Job Description

AV is seeking a Software Integration Engineer to support the integration, automation, testing, and operational sustainment of systems that provide metrics, monitoring, and telemetry capabilities for high-performance computing (HPC) environments.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on automating the installation and configuration of software, developing reliable telemetry data-ingestion pipelines, and ensuring that HPC infrastructure, equipment, and services are observable, measurable, and operationally effective. The successful candidate will work across software, systems, infrastructure, and operations teams to integrate and sustain complex solutions in a Linux environment.

The Software Integration Engineer will support the full software lifecycle—from installation and configuration through testing, documentation, upgrades, validation, and operational support. This position requires strong Linux and scripting skills, the ability to troubleshoot across heterogeneous environments, and the flexibility to work with multiple architectural approaches in a fast-paced mission environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automate the installation, configuration, testing, deployment, and operational management of metrics and monitoring solutions.
  • Design, implement, test, verify, and validate telemetry data-ingestion pipelines supporting HPC infrastructure, equipment, and services.
  • Integrate, install, configure, upgrade, compile, and sustain COTS and GOTS software across heterogeneous operating-system environments.
  • Develop Bash and Python scripts to automate the provisioning, configuration, testing, and sustainment of HPC systems.
  • Support the integration and operational management of tools used for system metrics, monitoring, logging, alerting, and telemetry.
  • Execute test code and performance-characterization activities to evaluate software behavior, system performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot software integration issues across applications, operating systems, virtualized environments, containers, networks, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Perform basic Linux system-administration activities, including command-line operations, service management, package installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain software products and supporting infrastructure throughout the sustainment lifecycle, including upgrades, patches, configuration updates, and operational improvements.
  • Serve as the software product owner for assigned HPC tools, coordinating product integration, configuration, documentation, issue resolution, and sustainment activities.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for the full software stack, including installation procedures, configuration baselines, interface definitions, test procedures, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support software configuration management, source-code control, technical documentation, and issue tracking.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, infrastructure administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and mission stakeholders to resolve technical issues and improve system capabilities.
  • Contribute to automation, repeatability, and continuous-improvement efforts across the software integration and operations lifecycle.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while transitioning between different systems, technologies, and architectural paradigms.

Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Eight (8) years of demonstrable experience integrating, installing, configuring, upgrading, compiling, and supporting COTS and GOTS software in heterogeneous operating-system environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
    • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, five (5) years of full-time, directly related Computer Science or software-integration experience may be substituted, in addition to the required eight (8) years of demonstrable experience.
    • A master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field may substitute for two (2) years of required experience.
    • An industry-recognized professional certification, as defined by the applicable contract or technical task requirements, may substitute for one (1) year of required experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with: Linux command-line tools and utilities. Basic Linux system administration. Bash and/or Python scripting. Automating the provisioning and configuration of HPC systems. Software integration, installation, configuration, upgrades, compilation, testing, troubleshooting, and operational sustainment. Integrating and supporting COTS and GOTS software in heterogeneous operating-system environments. Developing and maintaining documentation for software products and full software stacks. Configuration management, web-based documentation, source-code management, and issue-tracking tools.
  • Ability to execute software and system tests for performance characterization, verification, and validation.
  • Ability to design, implement, verify, and validate telemetry data-ingestion pipelines supporting HPC infrastructure, equipment, and services.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment while adapting to different technologies and architectural paradigms.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with SAFe Agile principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Experience administering metrics, monitoring, logging, and observability solutions, including Splunk.
  • Experience configuring and sustaining VMware ESXi and other virtualization environments.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • Experience applying CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools such as GitLab CI.
  • Experience applying Infrastructure as Code principles and using automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Experience using Git for source-code management.
  • Experience supporting telemetry, data-ingestion, monitoring, or observability pipelines.
  • Experience working with HPC infrastructure, distributed systems, or large-scale computing environments.
