We are looking for a dependable and safety-focused Slitter Operator to join our manufacturing team in Southington. In this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain metal slitting equipment to produce high-quality steel, aluminum, and stainless steel coils that meet customer specifications. What You'll Do
- Set up and operate metal slitting equipment according to work orders and production schedules.
- Thread material through the slitting line and adjust knives, spacers, guides, and tension settings for accurate processing.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
- Inspect finished coils for width, thickness, edge quality, burrs, camber, and surface defects.
- Complete coil changeovers and ensure finished products are properly packaged and labeled.
- Record production data, scrap, downtime, and quality inspection results.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with production, quality, maintenance, and shipping teams to meet customer expectations.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Two or more years of experience operating metal slitting equipment or similar manufacturing machinery preferred.
- Ability to read work orders, blueprints, and production specifications.
- Experience using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and commitment to safety.
