This position is located at our Tifton, GA location. 



Responsibilities 

General Summary:

The Production Specialist is responsible for checking and stacking tubes and finished bags onto pallets in the Bottoming/ Tubing departments. Ensures all quality aspects are adhered to and completes finishing by positioning a corrugated cover over the pallet. Also includes rework of bags and tubes and liner insertion as needed.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. The Production Specialist must be able to read orders and ensure the finished product meets quality and order specifications. They must be able to communicate orally with team members, prepare accurate records, and have basic mathematics skills. They must have good visibility to perform inspections of the product and to follow ISO Quality Checklists.
  2. The Production Specialist must be able to lift a “hand” of bags/tubes weighing a maximum of 50 pounds. They must be able to maneuver a paste-pan once per week that can weigh up to 100 pounds. A Production Specialist will be expected to spend 92% of their time either standing or walking and must be able to exert 15 lbs. force to pull a pallet off a stack and slide along the floor to place in the proper position for the product to be stacked upon.
  3. Safety – It is plant policy to work in a safe manner. All Production Specialists must ensure guards are in place, follow lock-tag-try procedures, observe hazards such as nip points, and follow plant and department safety rules.
  4. Ensures work area is kept clean according to SQF standards
  5. Responsible for reporting any potential quality or food safety issues to their supervisor or a member of management
  6. Responsible for backing up other Production Specialists in the event of their absence as scheduled


Qualifications 

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Basic mechanical comprehension/ability.
  2. Good organizational skills.
  3. Operate at an acceptable level of performance (Waste, M’s, Downtime, Efficiency, etc…).
  4. Ability to read and understand production orders and quality specifications.
  5. Good housekeeping skills a must.
  6. Assure all unused materials are properly labeled and returned to stock and properly stored.
