Oil & Gas Accountant

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Oil & Gas Accountant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing revenue and expenses, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and accounting standards. This role requires strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of oil and gas accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records related to oil and gas operations.
• Process and reconcile joint interest billings (JIB), revenue distributions, and production accounting data.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Analyze lease operating expenses (LOE) and other operational costs.
• Monitor revenue and royalty payments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with audits, tax reporting, and regulatory filings.
• Work closely with operations, land, and management teams to resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Generate financial reports and provide management with insights on company performance.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA certification or CPA eligibility.
• Experience with production accounting and revenue accounting.
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements in the oil and gas industry.
• Experience working with JIB, royalty, severance tax, and revenue distributions.
• Payroll Experiance
• Accounts payable and receivable
• Joint interest billing
• HR experiance (not a must)
