Job Overview:

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Skid Steer Operator with experience working in a recycling or materials recovery facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating skid steer equipment to move, load, and organize recyclable materials while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate skid steer equipment safely and efficiently to transport, load, and stockpile recyclable materials.
  • Feed conveyors, hoppers, crushers, or other processing equipment with various recyclable materials.
  • Sort, stage, and move materials including wood, metal, concrete, cardboard, plastics, and other recyclables.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and complete pre- and post-operation checklists.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, and safety hazards.
  • Maintain work areas by cleaning debris and keeping traffic routes clear.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Assist with general plant operations and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of skid steer operating experience; recycling, waste management, demolition, or aggregate industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of recycling processes and material handling is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and indoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work around dust, noise, moving machinery, and heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, or flexible schedules as needed.
