We are seeking a skilled Site Industrial Engineering and CORE lead to join our Largo FL team. This is an Onsite position and relocation will be provided for the well-qualified candidate.

The Site Industrial Engineering and CORE lead drives business and process improvements across multiple manufacturing and transactional value streams by designing, developing, and implementing solutions for integrated systems of people, materials, data, and equipment.

You will draw upon your specialized knowledge and skills in mathematical, physical, social sciences, and lean principles of engineering analysis design to specify predictive methods for evaluating results of a complex system.

The Site IE and CORE lead will lead continuous improvement initiatives using the RTX CORE Operating system, which incorporates best practices in areas such as six sigma, lean manufacturing, capacity analysis, human factors, motion time studies, and theory of constraints to eliminate process variation and waste to enable increases in capacity, reduction in lead-time, improved process flow, and gains in efficiencies to reduce the overall system cost.

Roles and responsibilities include integration of IE team with site strategy and collaboratively coordinating new product introduction, strong emphasis on Lean continuous improvement efforts, and embedding the CORE Operating System into the fabric of every day across the site, for all functions and levels.

The site IE lead will own the engagement and alignment through application of standard CORE and IE work products including factory system design, facility manufacturing layouts, capacity analysis/RCCP, lean 6S coaching, digital manufacturing simulation, labor standards, cycle time planning, value stream mapping, strategy, Operations performance & standards, and cost improvement project management.

The successful candidate will have sound business and financial acumen and be capable of developing strong business cases for change, collaborate across functions, businesses, and geographic regions to impact product and business affordability and efficiencies, leading challenging projects across the site as well as having an understanding of advanced manufacturing, automation, digital manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 smart factory.

What You Will Do:

  • Mentors small team of Industrial Engineers to develop an effective team to produce cost reduction projects that positively impact the business
  • Manages site strategy, focusing on aligning site strategy to CORE
  • Manages CORE Operating System for the site, including CORE Framework Maturity, Goal Alignment, and Macro Planning
  • Oversees site metrics/KPIs, Control Tower (Scorecard), and Operational Analysis (Ops Reviews)
  • Ability to understand and convey Enterprise and Business Strategy
  • Ability to work both tactically and strategically across the site, Business, and Enterprise
  • Ability to influence leaders, at both the site and business level, to align to RTX strategy
  • Manages team interactions to support program proposal and existing production systems
  • Develops recommendations for process improvements (including automation and Industry 4.0 solutions) and leads implementation of the solutions
  • Engages factory management to align IE work to customer’s business goals
  • Coordinates and mentors lean kaizen events with cross functional teams using Lean principles & tools
  • Manages manufacturing simulation models and collects critical data to support capacity planning models for various volume fluctuation scenarios
  • Manages high visibility projects and provides cost/benefit analysis with trade-off studies for methods and productivity improvements
  • Ability to prepare and present a concise and comprehensive business case and project summaries to all levels of the organization from executives to manufacturing floor personnel.
  • Strong understanding of Lean principles and implementation of Lean strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of assembling, managing, and motivating effective teams

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires: Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience OR In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
  • 10 or more years progressive leadership in manufacturing, operations management and industrial engineering
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Understanding and experience with Lean Operating Systems and Six Sigma continuous improvement.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • BS / BA from an accredited university with a major in Operations, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Operations, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Understanding and experience of RTX CORE or UTC ACE
  • Experience with Raytheon Six Sigma
  • Demonstrated history as an effective self-motivated change agent
  • Transition to production, Manufacturing Readiness Assessments and/or experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience deploying automation systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Focus on system optimization and transformation through continuous improvement cycles
  • Proficient in Process Simulations and capacity analysis
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Automation/Industry 4.0: Smart Manufacturing
  • Lean Facilitator experience with Value Stream Mapping and leading Kaizen events
  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition phases
  • Earned Value Certification
  • Six Sigma Blackbelt certification, CORE certification, Shingo certification, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional continuous improvement team projects
  • Strong business acumen to manage financial budgets and cost impact reporting
  • Bias for action and a sense of urgency, demonstrates accountability by holding self and others accountable to the team charter.
  • Managed small to mid-sized engineering teams
  • Must be self-motivated, have a bias for action, a sense of urgency, and quickly take personal responsibility to drive improvements.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
