Shop Technician – Houston, TX

About Us:

Transwest Mobile Truck Repair serves Houston drivers and businesses with quality automotive and diesel repair. Our Houston shop works on everything from everyday cars and pickups to diesel trucks, with most of our customers coming from the local community. We’re looking for a skilled Shop Technician who takes pride in quality work, values a team environment, and wants to grow with a company that invests in its people.

What You’ll Do:

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of customer vehicles, including cars, light-duty trucks, and diesel trucks
• Perform preventive maintenance services such as oil changes, fluid services, inspections, and component replacements
• Troubleshoot engine, electrical, brake, suspension, steering, cooling, HVAC, and drivetrain systems
• Use scan tools and diagnostic software to identify faults and verify repairs
• Accurately document labor, parts used, and findings on work orders
• Communicate repair needs and findings clearly with service staff and customers as needed
• Deliver quality, timely repairs that keep customers coming back
• Keep your work area, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and safe

What We’re Looking For:

• 1-2+ years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician, diesel technician, or mechanic
• Solid diagnostic skills on engines, electrical, brakes, and other major systems
• Experience using scan tools and diagnostic software (e.g., Snap-on, Autel, or similar)
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and service manuals
• Own set of hand tools appropriate for automotive repair
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to safety

Preferred (Not Required):

• Diesel repair experience on light-, medium-, or heavy-duty trucks
• Experience with diesel diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins INSITE, Detroit DiagnosticLink, JPRO, or similar)
• ASE certifications (Automotive and/or Medium/Heavy Truck series)
• DOT inspection experience
• CDL (Class A or B)

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs and work in a shop environment
• Comfortable standing, kneeling, bending, and working under vehicles for extended periods
