Job Title: Shop Superintendent
Location: Amite, LA
Reports To: Director of Operations
Shift: Day Shift (Full-Time)

Position Summary:

Grid Structures is seeking a highly capable and hands-on Shop Superintendent to lead day-to-day operations of our steel fabrication shop. This role is critical in ensuring safety, production throughput, quality standards, and workforce leadership across the facility. The ideal candidate will be a tough-but fair leader who is data-driven, production-minded, and capable of building strong teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and direct all shop operations, including processing, fitting, and welding.
• Supervise and support foremen in managing daily crew activities and meeting production targets.
• Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee quality control processes and address fabrication issues in real time.
• Monitor production metrics and drive output, efficiency, and on-time delivery performance.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and disciplinary processes as needed.
• Serve as a liaison between the shop and other departments (project management, engineering, purchasing).
• Maintain a strong floor presence (approx. 80% shop / 20% office) to resolve problems, motivate teams, and maintain momentum.
• Foster accountability, promote team morale, and address performance issues proactively.
• Use fabrication drawings and MRP software (Tekla PowerFab) to track and guide job progress.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Proven experience managing a structural or industrial fabrication shop.
• Strong working knowledge of welding, fabrication, and reading detailed technical drawings.
• Prior experience in transmission pole or substation structure fabrication preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage throughput, and maintain a safe work environment.
• Comfortable with production tracking systems and decision-making based on performance data.
