Job Overview:

Summary/Objective 
The Logistics Shipping Supervisor oversees all logistics operations, including shipping, carrier management, supplier releasing, packaging, inventory control, finished goods warehouse management, and customer service.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Manage communication with customers and broker companies, including audits, reconciliations, delivery performance, issue resolution, and freight forwarding coordination. 
  2. Monitor customer websites for orders and ensure compliance with consistent requirements through internal communication. 
  3. Conduct price comparisons, select transportation companies, and handle contract negotiations. 
  4. Ensure timely customer deliveries, including samples and service parts, and manage pick-ups, dispatches, and expedited transport controls. 
  5. Assess and manage forklift and terminal facility operations, including daily supervision, inspections, and maintenance. 
  6. Record, report, analyze, and improve expedited shipments caused by transportation method changes. 
  7. Oversee finished goods warehouse management, including safety, environment, labeling, and quality status. 
  8. Manage rack returns and optimize storage solutions. 
  9. Maintain daily logistics safety protocols, including training, inspections, and accident investigations.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and serves as a coach and mentor for all other positions in the department.

 

Work Environment

  1. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  2. 2 Must be 18 years or older.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

 

Travel 

The position is expected to travel occasionally.

 

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of logistics management experience, or Master's degree in supply chain management with 2 years of experience, or 7 years of logistics management experience.
  2. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. 8 to 10 years’ of Materials / Logistics Management experience.
