Seeking team member to verify, keep records of and prepare items for incoming and outgoing shipments. Will operate forklifts to move materials, equipment and product in manufacturing warehouse setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. See attached job description for full details.
- Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify against bill of lading, invoice, order, or other records.
- Assembles and/or repairs wooden or cardboard containers or selects reassembled containers.
- Inserts items into containers using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
- Fastens covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal strapping. Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments.
- Records appropriate information relating to damage and part count discrepancies. Records shortages and corresponds with appropriate internal department to advise appropriate personnel of damage, potential damage, part count, or other discrepancies.
- Routes items to departments.
- Operates forklift truck or hand truck to load/unload, move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
- Instructs and gives directions to others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.
- Insures that finished goods/raw material warehouse(s) are maintained in an orderly fashion and that space is utilized efficiently. Performs daily cycle counts of FG, WIP and raw material to maintain accuracy. Organizes inventory to maintain FIFO and keeps all required records and maintains a clean shipping and/or receiving area.
Earning potential: $22.50-$24/hour.
Hours/Shift:
2nd shift 3:30PM - 2:00AM Monday to Thursday
Education/Experience/Skills:
- Experience and training including: using computers, forklift/material handling, warehouse/inventory, shipping/receiving
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Preferred:
- Experience using MRP/ERP system Global Shop Solutions or similar
- Possesses valid drivers’ license
- Strong work history in a similar manufacturing setting
