Job Overview:

 

SUMMARY

This position will lead the daily operations of the shipping department and Finished Goods Loading Teams to ensure the highest utilization and most efficient use of staff, equipment and other resources. The Lead provides effective training and ensures safety and quality standards are always maintained. Identify and advise management of procedure revisions as needed.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (includes the following, however, other duties may apply.)

  • In consultation with Shipping Supervisor, plan manpower assignments and schedules in support of shipping requirements. 
  • Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed to ensure correct loading of mattresses on to trucks.
  • Ensure that all required documentation and computer entries are completed by company policies and in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate with Shipping Supervisor and other operational groups, internal and external customers, to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all shipping activities.
  • In coordination with Shipping Supervisor, identify and implement process and methods improvements that increase the efficiency and contribution of the shipping department.
  • Oversee shipping department to ensure all equipment and warehouse areas are kept clean, free of obstruction and debris, and always organized.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement efforts with Management.
  • Monitors and expedites workflow within the work area and adjusts when necessary. 
  • Communicate with Supervisors, and other Lead personnel any problems or concerns. 
  • Notify maintenance workers of equipment malfunctions. 
  • Perform any directly related appropriate duties as assigned. 


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant receiving and warehouse experience
  • Possess working knowledge of MS Office package
  • Able to communicate successfully with a variety of disciplines and levels, both internally and externally
  • Effective team building skills 
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
  • Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods
  • Be able to operate a forklift and other warehouse equipment
  • Customer service oriented 
  • Good teamwork abilities
  • Excellent communication skills 
     

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to analyze and solve problems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position involves considerable physical activity. Employees may be required to handle materials or equipment weighing up to 200 pounds, with assistance from appropriate lifting devices or other team members. Work is primarily performed in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
