Shipping Clerk – Split Shift (11a-7p)/2nd Shift (2p-10p) 

Granite City, Illinois
Starting at $20.51/hr + Bonuses + Shift Premiums

Granite City Processing (formerly Heidtman Steel) is growing, and we’re looking for reliable, motivated individuals to join our 2nd shift team. The shipping clerk is responsible for loading activities, scheduling truck appointments, and ensuring accurate, timely shipment of materials. Maintains inventory accuracy and required documentation using manual and computer systems.

Competitive Pay & Bonuses

• Starting wage: $20.51/hr
• Production Incentive Bonus: 2025 average was 15.13% (approximately $3.10/hr extra)
• Shift Premiums: 2nd shift: +$1.50/hr, 3rd shift: +$1.00/hr

Preferred Experience (Not Required)

If you’ve worked in manufacturing or handled equipment such as:

• Shipping/receiving experience preferred 
• Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
• High attention to detail; accurate data entry
• Proficient with computer systems
• Strong math skills and ability to follow written instructions

Job Type: Full-time

Wage: $20.51 /hour plus shift differential and monthly incentive.

Requirements

• Prepare bills of lading, pick tickets, and shipping documents 
• Receive and log inbound materials
• Verify accuracy of inventory and paperwork
• Ensure all outbound materials are properly labeled and shipped
• Operate forklift and overhead crane to move and load materials
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment
• Transfer materials 
• Perform other duties as assigned

You should be computer-literate to maintain the associated production documents. Experience driving a forklift, overhead crane, material handler, and steel handler experience is desired. This is a physically demanding job which requires standing, bending, twisting, stooping, and the ability to move up to 50 lbs.

Prior experience in machine operation and/or steel manufacturing experience is preferred for Slitter Opportunities; prior experience operating steel slitter machines is a bonus.
