Position Summary
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, packaging, receiving, and processing shipments to ensure accurate and timely delivery of materials and customer products. This role supports shipping and inventory operations by handling incoming and outgoing shipments, operating forklifts, completing shipping documentation, and entering data into the ERP system. The position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Packs products or parts into shipping cartons as described on order forms/instruction sheets.
- Uses packaging materials as necessary to prevent breakage or damage.
- Closes, seals, and accurately labels cartons for shipping.
- Check incoming packages for damage and count.
- Post weight and shipping charges.
- Receives all incoming materials and prepares products and other materials for shipment using freight bills.
- Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
- Creates PO for outside services; receives products, partners with vendors, and purchases for hot jobs.
- Performs manufacturing receipts, and works to repair material errors. Any extreme situations are discussed with the appropriate management.
- Enters data in M1.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of industrial truck (Forklift) experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment (preferred)
- Intermediate computer knowledge/skill in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel)
- Knowledge and skills in Material Requirements Planning (MRP), setting up Over the Road shipments (OTR), Bill of Lading (BOL), or using UPS/FEDEX systems
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the mission
- Flexible and able to multi-task; can work with an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
- Bend and lift, loading and unloading workpieces into the machine, and move from one workstation to another, alternately sitting and standing)
