Description
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining records of all transactions. This role involves coordinating with various departments, handling shipping documents, and using warehouse management systems to track inventory. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and assist delivery drivers upon their arrival to ensure outstanding customer service.
- Inspect and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips to ensure accuracy.
- Unload, unpack, and organize incoming materials.
- Record and report any discrepancies or damages found during the receiving process.
- Prepare and process outgoing shipments according to customer specifications and company procedures.
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation for all shipments.
- Coordinate with carriers and schedule pickups as needed.
- Track shipments and update the status in the system.
- Communicate with internal departments and external customers regarding shipment status and issues.
- Address and resolve any shipping or receiving-related inquiries.
- Keep work area safe and clean from all safety hazards, report any safety hazards to lead or supervisor.
- Assist with other warehouse tasks as needed, including picking, packing, and storing inventory.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently (if certified).

EDUCATION & TRAINING
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSE).
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems.
- Forklift certification preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, or a similar role a plus.
- Knowledge of shipping regulations and procedures.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequently required to reach and use hands and arms continuously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and part of a team.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Must maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
