POSITION PURPOSE:
Finish Core Lengths to customer specifications and functional requirements. Perform all work in safe manner following safety guidelines. Production is completed at set Standard Rates.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform routine quality checks on all cores as they are cut and WIP sticks as they are loaded or readied for loading in stick carts.
- Record data from QA checks on BLM (Beta LaserMikes). Advise Extrusion Operators/ QA Technician of quality problems or concerns. Use calipers and checking aids. Re-adjust cut lengths when out-of-spec.
- Record Gang Saw production, downtime, changeovers, and quality info on Saw Production Report.
- Follow Production Schedule. Verify Mfg Config Number and check the pcs/case, Box audit, Cases required and Customer info if available. Assist with Preventative Maintenance Programs. Repair (if trained) broken exit tubes collecting ends, change stick bands when worn, twisted or damaged and change saw blades as required.
- Measure on core cut lengths on set-ups to target lengths. Be certain to record the “test cut lengths” and turn in with Cart Tags.
- Grind scrap product, segregate by type for reuse in new products.
- Ensure safety and housekeeping policies are followed.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Math skills are required to perform Gang Saw set-ups.
- Use hand and power tools as required.
- Use Pallet Jacks and Forklifts
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
None (However; must be able to learn duties of Gang Saw Operator and be proficient within a reasonable 3–4-month period of time).
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Must be able to read and write in English.
- Must communicate with other Saw Operators, Extrusion Operators, Mechanics, Engineers, and Managers when diagnosing or troubleshooting problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 40 lbs for a distance of up to 25 feet.
- Must be able to lift arms above shoulders to retrieve parts and stack pallets. Occasional bending and reaching to retrieve parts and fill hoppers at higher levels.
- Able to work in hot environment.
QUALITY STANDARDS:
- Must comply with all plant Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Must be able to read, follow and understand product quality standards and specification prints.

To maintain proper safety standards according to established Sanitary and Housekeeping Practices (GMP Compliance) Proper use of all safety equipment i.e.: proper use of personal protective gear including gloves, earplugs and safety glasses at all times when operating saws
