Job Description

As posted by the hiring company

Job Overview:

We’re a precision metal fabrication and machining company specializing in laser cutting, machining, and rapid prototyping, and a premier supplier of tooling and components for advanced aerospace programs. We’re headquartered in Emmaus, PA, with a subsidiary, DMI-Texas, LLC, in Brownsville, TX. Our team of 45+ works across both sites. If you want your work to help shape the future of flight and exploration, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

We’re looking for experienced sheet metal welders to join our team in Emmaus on 1st or 2nd shift. You’ll TIG and MIG weld steel, stainless, and aluminum for aerospace programs, from thin-gauge work to heavier brackets and mounts, and blend welds smooth for powder coat and #4 stainless finishes. We run two handheld laser welders and a cobot-driven laser welder, and you’ll get the chance to learn them. If you take pride in clean welds, tight fitment, and an organized shop, this is the role for you.

Schedule & Location

Full-time, on-site in Emmaus, PA (headquarters). We’re hiring for two shifts:

  • 1st shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm. Early start, so your afternoons are free.
  • 2nd shift: Monday–Thursday, 12:30 pm – 11:00 pm. A four-day work week, so every weekend is a three-day weekend.

Please tell us which shift you’re applying for, or if you’re open to either.

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • Sheet metal welding experience. 3+ years welding in a sheet metal or metal fabrication shop.
  • MIG and TIG skills. Proficient MIG and TIG welding from 22 ga to 1/4" in steel, stainless, and aluminum.
  • Blueprint reading. You read engineering drawings, weld symbols, and work orders.
  • Finishing skills. You use calipers, cutters, grinders, pneumatic grinders, and orbital sanders to blend welds smooth.
  • Attention to detail. Your welds are clean and consistent, part after part.
  • Able to lift 50 lb. and stand for extended periods in a loud shop environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice to Have

  • Aerospace, defense, or tight-tolerance manufacturing background
  • Handheld laser welding or cobot laser welding experience
  • Experience with exotic alloys and a wide range of sheet metal gauges
  • Forklift certification or experience

What You’ll Do

  • Weld to spec. Set up, fit, and run MIG and TIG welds per engineering drawings, adjusting technique to hold tolerance through the run.
  • Deliver clean finish work. Sand and blend welds smooth for powder coat or #4 stainless finishes.
  • Own your quality. Inspect every weld against the drawing and catch deviations early to keep rework low.
  • Work as a team. Work with fabrication to fix fitment and joint prep issues early, and keep production planning updated on job status.
  • Learn new technology. Train on our handheld laser welders and cobot laser welding system.
  • Keep your area tight. Maintain equipment on schedule and keep your area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Support the shop. Help with deburring, light assembly, tapping, countersinking, and forklift work as needed.

What Success Looks Like

  • First 90 days: You’re up to speed on our equipment, materials, and quality standards, and you’re running jobs with growing independence.
  • Six months: You’re confidently handling the full range of our welding work, your welds pass inspection the first time, and you’re learning the laser welders.
  • One year: You’re one of the strongest welders on the floor, you’re proficient on the laser welders and cobot, and you’re the go-to person for tricky parts.
