About the Role
A growing manufacturing company in the Detroit area is looking for a skilled hands-on professional to join their fabrication team. This role involves creating and assembling precision metal parts, prototypes, and models used in various mechanical and industrial applications.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with their hands, interpreting blueprints, and producing high-quality, accurately built parts using both traditional and modern fabrication methods.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and part layouts to plan fabrication steps
Set up and operate fabrication equipment such as press brakes, rollers, shears, and punch tools
Measure, cut, bend, and form sheet metal materials with close attention to detail
Use precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to verify dimensions
Fit, align, and assemble fabricated components for prototypes, jigs, or fixtures
Work with team members and engineers to identify issues and suggest improvements in process or fit
Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area
Qualifications
At least 3 years of experience in metal fabrication, model making, or tool and die-related work
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints or engineering drawings
Skilled in the use of fabrication machinery (press brake, roller, shear, grinder, etc.)
Proficient with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, quality, and craftsmanship
Capable of working independently on custom or prototype builds
High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical training preferred
