Job description:
We’re a precision metal fabrication and machining company specializing in laser cutting, machining, and rapid prototyping, and a premier supplier of tooling and components for advanced aerospace programs. We’re headquartered in Emmaus, PA, with a second facility in Brownsville, TX. If you want your work to help shape the future of flight and exploration, we want to hear from you.
About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Process Engineer to own production of every part that comes out of our laser and press brake departments in Emmaus. You’ll nest and program laser jobs, select tooling and sequence bends, build job packets, and work with quoting, customers, and the shop floor to get parts right the first time with less scrap and setup time. This is a shop-floor engineering role, not a desk job. You’ll solve problems at the machine and step in to run the laser and press brake when production needs it.
Hands-on fiber laser AND press brake experience is required. Applicants without direct, hands-on experience running both machines will not be considered.
Schedule & Location
Full-time, 1st shift, on-site at:
- Emmaus, PA (Headquarters)
What You’ll Bring
Required
- Hands-on laser experience (REQUIRED). You’ve personally set up and run a fiber laser cutting machine, including loading programs, running jobs, and troubleshooting cut quality.
- Hands-on press brake experience (REQUIRED). You’ve personally set up and run a press brake, including selecting tooling, sequencing bends, and forming parts to print.
- Sheet metal process experience. You’ve developed or improved manufacturing processes in a sheet metal fabrication shop.
- Programming skills. Laser nesting and press brake offline programming (PEP Technologies, Striker, DiamondBend, or similar).
- CAD/CAM skills. Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.
- Print reading and math. Strong math skills, and you can read engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Problem solving. Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, and corrective action.
Nice to Have
- Degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering, or equivalent experience
- Mitsubishi press brake and DiamondBend experience
- Fulcrum Pro or similar ERP experience, including NCR and CAPA reporting
- Faro Arm or other portable CMM experience
- Weld fixture design experience
- Aerospace, defense, or tight-tolerance experience
- Forklift certification
What You’ll Do
- Nest. Nest parts in PEP Technologies and Striker, and set cutting sequences to maximize material use and minimize waste.
- Program bends. Select press brake tooling and fixtures based on part geometry and material, and program bend sequences in DiamondBend.
- Review designs. Work with customer engineers and our quoting team to confirm manufacturability and flag challenges early.
- Build job packets. Add manufacturing details to part routings and build production job packets in Fulcrum Pro.
- Design fixtures. Create and modify sheet metal parts and tooling in CAD, and design fixtures for welding and downstream processes.
- Own quality. Inspect parts to print (using the Faro Arm as needed), lead root cause analysis, and close out NCRs and CAPAs.
- Write standard work. Develop and maintain work instructions, procedures, and process documentation.
- Improve the process. Apply lean principles to cut waste and setup time, and evaluate new technologies, equipment, and materials.
- Run the machines. Step in on the fiber laser or press brake when production needs it, and keep the area clean and safe.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Sit or stand for long periods, moving between the office and the shop floor throughout the day
- Work in a loud shop environment while wearing required PPE
- Operate a forklift, press brake, and fiber laser as needed
- Work around dogs on site
