Job Overview:

$30–$34/hr + 10% 2nd Shift Differential (if you are interested in working the 2nd Shfit) | Day 1 Benefits | Weekly Pay | Aerospace & Defense

Elk Grove Village, IL | Full-Time

If you know setups, Acme Industries wants to talk to you.

We run complex, tight-tolerance aerospace and defense components on vertical and horizontal machining centers — high-mix, low-volume, different challenges every shift. You won't be babysitting a bar feeder here. You'll own the machine from job launch to last part, troubleshoot independently, and be the person the shift depends on.

2nd shift at $30–$34/hr plus a 10% differential.

What You'll Own

  • Complete setups on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers — workholding, tooling selection and installation, program prove-out, and first-article approval from scratch
  • FANUC control adjustments — offsets, edits, and parameter changes to hit tolerance on the first try
  • In-process and final inspection using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and CMM where applicable
  • Independent troubleshooting — out-of-tolerance conditions, tool wear, surface finish issues, and machine alarms — without waiting for engineering or programming support
  • Blueprint and GD&T interpretation — you read a print, you understand it, you work from it
  • Clean job transitions to operators with clearly documented setup sheets for repeatability
  • Shift continuity — communicate open issues, in-process jobs, and priorities at turnover so nothing falls through the cracks
  • 5S and housekeeping standards on your machine and your area

What We Need

Required:

  • 5+ years of CNC milling experience with real, demonstrated setup responsibility — start to finish, not assisted setups or operator-only background
  • Ability to set up jobs independently including workholding, tooling, and program prove-out with no hand-holding
  • Proficiency reading blueprints and GD&T accurately and independently
  • Precision measurement and first-article inspection experience
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot out-of-tolerance conditions, tool wear, and machine alarms on your own

Strongly Preferred:

  • FANUC control experience — offsets, edits, parameter adjustments beyond just running proven programs
  • Aerospace, defense, or heavy industrial precision manufacturing background
  • AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management system familiarity
  • High-mix, low-volume complex component experience — you're comfortable setting up a different job every shift
  • Experience informally training or mentoring less experienced operators

Why Acme

  • $30–$34/hr based on your actual setup experience — not a ceiling
  • 10% shift differential on 2nd shift — real additional take-home, not a token bump
  • Day 1 medical, dental, and vision — no 30- or 90-day wait
  • Weekly pay — not bi-weekly like most shops
  • 401(k) with company match, company-paid life insurance and disability, HSA/FSA
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays
  • Gainsharing bonus — when Acme does well, you share in it
  • Complex, interesting work — aerospace and defense components that go into aircraft and defense systems, not repetitive production runs
  • 75+ years of stability — founded in 1948, PE-backed, actively growing
  • Active investment in your development — apprenticeship program, workforce development, clear path to lead, training, and mentorship roles for the right person
  • Clean, safe, modern facility — we take the shop environment seriously
